Sullivan Field Restoration & Fiber Connectivity (In Progress)

Providing fiber optic infrastructure to support the restoration of Grand Rapids’ historic baseball landmark.

Sullivan Field is more than a ballpark. For nearly 90 years, it has been a cornerstone of Grand Rapids’ west side community, hosting generations of players, families, and baseball fans. Through a collaborative effort involving the City of Grand Rapids, Fans of Valley Field, Integrated Architecture, and Rockford Construction, this historic venue is being carefully restored to preserve its rich heritage while preparing it for future generations.

As part of the restoration, Geotech provided the fiber optic infrastructure connecting Sullivan Field to the City of Grand Rapids network. This critical technology upgrade supports modern communications and operational capabilities throughout the park while complementing the broader vision of revitalizing one of the nation’s few remaining wooden-grandstand baseball stadiums.

The restoration includes repairs to the historic grandstands, new seating, site improvements, and a museum beneath the stands that will celebrate the history of baseball in Grand Rapids. Scheduled to reopen in 2027, Sullivan Field will continue serving as a community gathering place where history, recreation, and modern infrastructure come together.
